Noted events in his life were:
• Reigned, 844-878. 1 He united the three largest kingdoms of Wales, acquiring Gwynedd from his father, Powys from his mother and Deheubarth from his wife.
• Military, 856. 1 Defeated the Vikings. Later (876) the Vikings forced him into exile.
Rhodri married Angharadh verch Meurig, daughter of Meuirg ap Dyfnwallon, King of Seisyllwg. (Angharadh verch Meurig was born in 825.)
