The eldest of this family of children, Wessel Wesselse is thought to be the colonist who is recorded as coming from Münster, in Westphalia, in the ship "FAITH," in December, 1659. Shortly after his marriage in 1670, he removed to Kingston, then to Esopus, where he applied for a grant of land which he received in 1676. He became a man of influence in the community and the house he built is now known as "The Senate House of the State of New York" in which the First Constitution of the State was adopted in April, 1777. The house is nowa museum in the heart of Kingston. Wessel Ten Broeck married maria Teneyck first; page 511 Marriage # 109 of "The Baptismal & Marriages Registers of Old Dutch Church of Kingston", by Hoes, states 26 Sep 1695 - "Wessel Ten Broeck, widower of Marytje Ten Eyck , and Laurentia Kellenaar, widow of Thomas Chambers, both residents here [ in Kingston]. Banns published, but dates not give. Wessel married Maria Teneyck, daughter of Coentaedt Teneyck and Marya Boelen, on 17 Dec 1670 in Dutch Collegiate Church, New York. (Maria Teneyck was born in 1651 and died on 15 Nov 1694.)
