Henry Miller, Senior
Henry Miller, Sr. was a baby when his parents, Barbary and John, Sr. crossed the Allegheny Mountains and settled in Indian Creek, W. Va. Henry, Sr inherited a large acreage of the original land grant on Indian Creek. He lived there in a large double log cabin. He became dissatisfied with his outlook of life there and someone came along with a bright shining rifle that he wanted so much that he traded his farm for it and was so elated over the trade that he left whistling "Leather Britchess." The purchaser of the farm made it into two fine farms that was occupied by two brothers, Hugh and Henry Peck. He married Rhoda Brocking. They lived on part of the land granted his father, Henry Miller, Sr., until he traded it for the rifle. Henry married Rhoda Brocking, daughter of Charles Brocking, Junior and Ann Unknown, on 27 May 1799 in Monroe Co, Virginia (Now WV).1 2 (Rhoda Brocking was born in 1779 in Albemarle Co, Virginia 3 and died on 28 Jul 1851 in Monroe Co, Virginia (Now WV) 3.)
