A GOOD MAN GONE
We are pained to record the death of Mr. Isaiah Pownall, which occurred at his residence near Three Churches, in this county, on last Sunday night. He has passed, by nearly a score of years, the allotted age of man, having reached his 86th year. Death notices are apt to be somewhat eulogistic, but of Mr. Pownall it can be truly said, that if there ever was a good man, he was one. He had been connected with the Presbyterian church since 1832, and had been an Elder for many years, and fully exemplified in his life his profession as a christian. He was buried on Tuesday in the old cemetery at Three Churches, his funeral service being conducted by Rev. G. W. Finley.
Isaiah married Mary Heare, daughter of Adam Daniel Heare and Margaret Todd. (Mary Heare was born on 16 Apr 1806, died on 6 Jul 1896 in Hampshire Co, West Virginia and was buried in Mt. Bethel Primitive Baptist Cemetery, Three Churches, Hampshire Co.)
