Prefect of Bavaria

More likely instead to be Linzgau, rather than Vinsgau. The father of Hildegard, count Gerold, had many properties in the Linzgau, as well as in the adjacent Argengau, Hegau, and south of the Bodensee in the Thurgau. After Count Gerold's death, Charlemagne made Hildegard's brother Ulrich Count of Linzgau and Argengau. Ulrich became the progenitor of the 'Udalrichinger' which had their seat in Bregenz, Bodensee.
