Funeral Announcement
"Thomas Edward Shingleton, 84, of 197 S. Bolton St., Romney, WV, died yesterday in Hopemount Hospital at Hopemount, WV. He was the brother of Newton B. Shingleton of Winchester.
Mr. Shingleton was born June 7, 1888 in Romney, son of the late Elihu P. and Rebecca McDonald Shingleton. He had been a lumberman and farmer all his life.
His wife, Mrs. Clersia Doyle Shingleton, died in 1967.
Surviving with his brother are one daughter, Mrs. Audra Russell of Romney; five sons, Carl B., Hoy G., and Glen E. Shingleton, all of Romney, Arno W. Shingleton of Falls Church, and Ray E. Shingleton of Staunton; one half-sister, Mrs. Stella Kyle of Winchester; and three-half brothers, William R. Timbrook of Falls Church, Sloan H. Timbrook of Romney, and Thurl A. Timbrook of Denver, CO; 11 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be conducted tomorrow at 3 pm at the Shaffer Funeral Home, Romney, by the Rev. Ronald R. Brooks.
Burial will be in Indian Mound Cemetery, Romney.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 pm today."
