[11] Gottfried lived with his older brother, Johannes, until his maturity (1747), and then settled on land that was bought for him in Greenwich Twp, Sussex (now Warren) Co, NJ, where he died at the age of 52. Godfrey Melich, as he was known in America, emigrated from Germany in 1735 with Johannes, his older brother, landing in Philadelphia 29 May, from the ship Mercury. His wife, Margaret, was 15 when they married.
Johann married Margaret Falkenburg on 20 May 1748 in New Jersey.1 (Margaret Falkenburg was born on 2 Feb 1732/33 in New Jersey 2 and died on 26 Sep 1799 in New Jersey 2.)
