John Stout 1
"John Stout, the seventh child of John and Mary (Broyles) Stout, was born May 29, 1811, in Limestone. He first married Thirza Brown on January 3, 1837. Their children were William Decatur, Mary Adaline, James L., Simaria, John Wesley, Thomas Kelly, Caswell Taylor..., Elbert Kennedy, Berry Bascom, and George W. Stout. "Thirza died in 1861, and John married Louisa Jane Whittenberg in 1862. They had seven children. He was a farmer in Bledsoe County except for a few years in Meigs County where Caswell Taylor Stout was born on August 27, 1848. Education of his children was of prime importance. He joined neighbors to incorporate and become a trustee of Sequatchie College. "John was the Deputy U.S. Marshall, operated a gristmill and cotton gin, and was a violinist. He died in 1898 and is buried at the Sequatchie College Cemetery between his wives. Jane Whittenberg died in 1913." Knox E. Greer in History of Rhea County, Tennessee, compiled by Bettye J.
