Elizabeth Lane
After the death of John, several family members left Hampshire County, Virginia to move to Ohio in March 1821. They were Thomas B. Watkins, his wife Judith (Timbrook) and either two or three of their small children. Elizabeth who was 51-52 years old, and her son James Timbrook, age 18, along with daughter Rebecca, about 15, also made the move to Ohio. These family members reportedly traveled by wagon from Hampshire County, Virginia to Brownsville, Pennsylvania. They would have taken the old road to Cumberland, Maryland where they would join others on the National Road, sometimes called the Cumberland Road. (information from: Glenn E. Smith, Muskogee, OK) Elizabeth married John Timbrook, son of Cornelius Ten Broeck and Margarietjen Louw, about 1789 in Hunterdon Co, NJ. (John Timbrook was born on 21 Jun 1760 in New Jersey and died about 1820 in Virginia.) |
