Margaret "Pud" Ballard, daughter of Jeremiah and Julie (Thompson) Ballard, was born 1814 and died 1892, buried in the Keaton Cemetery. Isaac Newton Ballard write of his Aunt Pud as follows: My recollections of Aunt Margaret, commonly called Peggy, but to me was known as Aunt Pud, is that of an old woman, plainly and cleanly dressed. Always wearing a white bonnet with frills around the border. While I never saw her without a cap, I am told that she was baldheaded. As the wife of Robin Shanklin, she lived in a double log house on the west side of Ellison's Ridge by the old road, now closed to travel. In my boyhood visits there, I was impressed with the scoured doors and mantlepiece and the unusually large feathered bed on very high corded wooden bedstead. She was fond of flowers and had many of them around her. Margaret married 1st Anderson Keaton 1810-1837 in 1830. She and Anderson Keaton had two children 1. Delilah 2. Evaline Margaret inherited real estate from her husband, Anderson Keaton and her dower is recorded in Monroe County. From the marriage records it would appear that her father did not approve of her second marriage Monroe County Clerk Office: to wit: This oath made beofe me John Hutchinson, clerk of said county, that yesterday he was at Absolum Shanklins, the father of Robin Shanklin and saw the time of said Robert D Shanklin birth on the table which was 11 Feb 1814 and the said Robert Shanklin is well known in the neighborhood to be 21 years of age; that Mrs. Keaton he believes is at least 21 years of age, and that her father has no control over her since her husband Anderson Keeton died. Margaret and Robert" Robin" Shanklin had 5 children 1. Mary Ann 2. Riley 3. Matilda 4. Ellen 5. Elizabeth

Margaret married Anderson Keaton, son of Reverend Johnson Keaton and Elizabeth "Betsy" Mann, on 24 Mar 1830 in Monroe Co, Virginia (Now WV).¹ (Anderson Keaton was born on 26 May 1810 in Monroe Co, Virginia (Now WV), died on 12 Aug 1837 in Monroe Co, Virginia (Now WV) ¹ and was buried in Keaton Cemetery, Cook's Run, Monroe Co, WV.)

Margaret next married on 27 Aug 1839 in Monroe Co, WV.
