First settled on a farm called (in 1928) the "Holland Williams Est."near Romney Bridge. He later traded it for a farm that was east of Romney known as Sunrise Orchard.
He was ordained as an elder in the Primitive Baptist Church and served as clerk of the Patterson's Creek Baptist Association.
