Michael Broyles
Revolutionary War Veteran. According to the William & Mary Quarterly " War Department records show that on 11-8-1833, while a resident of Washington County, TN, he applied for a pension. In his application, he states that he was born in 1740 in Culpepper County, VA and that he enlisted 05-01-1776 and served as Privat in Capt. Russell's Company of Militia and was discharged 01-01-1777. He was called out the same month to guard the prisoners taken at the Battle of Princeton, in which duty, he served until 03-1777; that in the fall of 1778 he moved to Western N CAR (now TN) where his house on the Nolachucky was the Fort that guarded the frontier to the end of the war; and that he also served under Col. Sevier in the N CAR Militia for 3 months. So far as I have found out, he was the first of the family to emmigrated to TN.
