January of 1749/50 received a coat from his father's estate.
1769, February 15 indicted for fornacation in Hunterdon Co., NJ
1770, January married in Princeton, New Jersey
According to pension application his war service was as follows:
July of 1776- volunteered under Capt. John Anderson and Lt. George (Akrum)- marched to Brunswick NJ joined with Col. Philips, then marched to New York and Long island, City of New York, Ft. Washington on York Island (with gen. Herd), then to New York met up with Gen. Washington and Lord Sterling, 5 months up and weather turning cold- decided to go home (still with Col. philips and Gen. Herd), New brunswick NJ, back home around Christmas of 1776.
Early 1777 was a six month call and he joined under Capt. Smauley- New Brunswick, Closter? where they joined a Major Sullys'Sutley- spent six months guarding the settlements along the North River and shore. When six moths were up was asked to remain another six weeks for a total of 7 months and 2 weeks before returning home.
April of 1778 volunteered under Capt. Snook for 3 months, in and around Princeton NJ for about 2 months then marched up to Monmouth and joined with Gen. Washington, then battle of Monmouth. Three months up returned home.
Winter of 1779 volunteered under Capt. Stout, marched to Raritan NJ. Returned home after 2 months.
Spring of 1779 (or 80?) volunteered under Capt. Jones and Col Shreeves?, marched to Haddonfield NJ, then to Mt. Holly NJ, Morristown NJ. Then home after 1 month.
His wife's pension application says he fought in battles at long Island, Trenton, Princeton, Brandywine, Germantown and Monmouth.

Declarations indicate 10 children born to subjects, 5 in NJ 5 in PA Married in 1770 by Rev Doct Witherspoon in Princeton NJ; Residents of Hunterdon (or Somerset Co) NJ (probably AMWELL TWP)
AMWELL HISTORY:
Ruckman, John 19 A (acres) Pat to John Sanders 1873; John RUCKMAN Sr appears on a tax list for 1790 in Amwell twp however he does not appear on the 1790 census. (note, this census is taken from tax list and its possible that they did not own property at that time). Have secured copies of most of the above, in file. Doug Graebe,Wheeling WV, a desc of David Ruckman (son of Eli) lists another dtr Nancy on his desc. chart.
John J. Matviya visited and took pictures of John Ruckman's cabin (1998).
