He was a mere infant when his father died and only a few years old when his mother died. It is probably that he was cared for by his older sister, Susanna, the wife of John Garner. He removed to Stafford County Virginia where he held a considerable estate. He married Bridgett and had but one surviving child, Elizabeth. She bought 100 acres from Nicholas Jenkins.
