Civil War infiormation on Robert Alford:
Robert Alford enlisted in Company B on 6 April 1862 in Logan County (now WV). He transferred to Company D, Capt. Carter's Company, on 19 Nov 1862. After the Civil War started Robert took his best horse and joined the C.S.A. A crippling injury in Tennessee caused one leg to be shorter than the other (see Hardesty's History information listed under Robert's son, Lafayette Alford).
Robert married Sarah Dolin on 23 Apr 1861. (Sarah Dolin was born on 30 May 1823 in Logan Co, Virginia and died on 30 Apr 1891 in Putnam Co, West Virginia.)
