Stephen Poland, Senior

This information from Alan Apel's file on Ancestry.com:

"Stephen and his brother Peter came to the colonies from Rotterdam, Holland on the ship "Patience". They landed in Philadelphia, PA on 11 AUG 1750 and on that date signed their X (German X) for their names on a Certificate of Allegiance to the Crown of England.

"In an old family Bible passed down thru Stephens family to the grandfather of Bonn Arthur Poland listed the place and date of birth of Stephen, Peter and his brother Samuel also the marriage of Samuel and the birth of Samuels first child. Much more had been destroyed and could not be made out.

"Their father appeared to be Heinrich ???? I have been to Cusel and visited the cemetery where lie many Polands. In the 1509 Whit Sunday Census of Cusel it lists Appolonia Poland, a widow and names two sons and a daughter. I have spots between 1509 and 1730 but nothing firm. Peter settled in Lancaster Co. PA where he died in 1818. Samuel settled in Berkley Co. VA where he died in 1780. I have much of his descendants".

Stephen married Barbara Unknown. (Barbara Unknown was born about 1732.)
